Raw Papaya Masala

Finally got some time out of my schedule to put up a very interesting recipe/ experiment that I tried today.

On Sunday, while buying veggies for the week, I happened to pick up raw papaya. Inquired about its usage and came to know that it is used in vegetables, curries, made into nice tangy chutney and used as a tenderizer for meat (I knew this one).

So today I tried my hands on making a masala subji out of it which to my surprise came out very well and it looks like this ...

For this dish all you need is:

Ingredients:

Raw papaya - cut into small and thin slices
Green chillies
Dry red chillies
Turmeric powder
Red chilli powder (I have used Kashmiri mirch)
Salt
Methi seeds
Mustard seeds
Cumin seeds
Mustard oil
1-2 tbspn gram flour

Recipe:

  • Heat 2 tbspn mustard oil in a pan
  • Add cumins seeds, msutard seeds, methi seeds and dry red chillies to it and let it cook for a second
  • Now add raw papaya, green chillies, turmeric powder, red chillli powder and salt
  • Add 3-4 tbspns water, cover the lid and let this cook for a good 10 mins on low flame
  • When the papaya is soft enough, add 2 tbspns of gram flour to it and mix it well
  • Keep stirring and mixing it on the low flame for 2-3 mins and then cover the lid and let it cook for another 3 mins and then your dish is done
Hope you will like it too

Happy Eating :)
